Product Specific Information

This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD5, a 67 kDa single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on mature T lymphocytes, most thymocytes, and a subset of B lymphocytes (B-1a lymphocytes).

Target Information

CD5 is a 67 kDa human T-lymphocyte single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein. It is expressed on all mature T lymphocytes, most thymocytes, and many T-cell leukemias and lymphomas. CD5 also reacts with a subpopulation of activated B cells and may act as a receptor regulating T-cell proliferation. CD5 is found on approximately 95% of thymocytes and 72% of peripheral blood lymphocytes, with strong reactivity in T-cell areas of lymph nodes. Diseases associated with CD5 dysfunction include thymus cancer and Richter’s Syndrome.
