Product Specific Information
This antibody detects a 15 kDa protein corresponding to the molecular mass of Histone H2B on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of human A431, Jurkat, HeLa, mouse C2C12, rat PC12, and A7r5 cells.
It also shows nuclear labeling in immunocytochemistry of methanol/acetone fixed cells.
Target Information
Histones are basic nuclear proteins responsible for the nucleosome structure of chromosomal fibers in eukaryotes.
Nucleosomes consist of approximately 146 bp of DNA wrapped around a histone octamer composed of pairs of four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4).
These structures further compact DNA into chromatin, regulating DNA accessibility for transcription, replication, and repair.
Histone H2B also exhibits broad antibacterial activity.
