No reaction was observed against other related cyclins.
Cross-reactivity with cyclin T1 from other species may also occur.
Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the highly conserved cyclin C subfamily. The encoded protein tightly associates with cyclin-dependent kinase 9 and is a major subunit of positive transcription elongation factor b (p-TEFb).
In humans, multiple forms of p-TEFb exist, composed of various cyclins and CDK9.
The complex acts as a cofactor for HIV-1 Tat protein, essential for full activation of viral transcription.
Cyclin T1 and its kinase partner trigger transcript elongation via phosphorylation of the carboxy-terminal domain of RNA polymerase II.
Overexpression of this gene is implicated in tumor growth.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
