Antiserum specifically reacts with a 40–45 kDa Cyclin D1 protein from human, rat, and mouse tissue.
No reaction was observed against other related cyclins.
Cross-reactivity with Cyclin D1 from other species may also occur.

Target Information

Cyclin D1 (PRAD-1, bcl-1) is a key regulator of the cell cycle that functions with CDK4 and/or CDK6 to phosphorylate the Rb protein. It acts as a proto-oncogene overexpressed in various human cancers, including mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). Cyclin D1 regulates protein phosphorylation, epithelial cell proliferation, and adipocyte differentiation.
The CCND1 gene encoding Cyclin D1 is located on chromosome 11. Cyclin D1 is expressed in both cytoplasm and nucleus during the G1 phase, forming complexes with CDK4 or CDK6 upon growth factor stimulation. These complexes inactivate Rb through phosphorylation and modulate CDK inhibitors such as p21Cip1 and p27Kip1.
Without growth factor stimulation, Cyclin D1 undergoes ubiquitin-mediated degradation, contributing to G1/S arrest. As a member of the conserved cyclin family, Cyclin D1 plays a crucial role in regulating cell cycle progression and has been widely used in studies of cell cycle biology and cancer pathogenesis.
