Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing.
Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
Antiserum specifically reacts with a 43 kDa CDK9 (PITALRE) protein from human, rat, and mouse tissue. No reaction was observed against other related cyclin-dependent kinases. Cross-reactivity with CDK9 (PITALRE) from other species may also occur.
The murine cDNA is shown to be 98% identical with human. Suitable for immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded tissue.
Target Information
CDK9 is a serine/threonine kinase that forms an active holoenzyme complex with Cyclin T1, playing a key role in regulating the eukaryotic cell cycle.
It regulates cytokine-inducible transcription networks by facilitating promoter recognition of target transcription factors and promotes RNA synthesis in genetic programs for cell growth, differentiation, and viral pathogenesis.
The CDK9/cyclin-K complex also phosphorylates the CTD of RNAPII and can substitute for CDK9/cyclin-T P-TEFb in vitro.
Chronic activation of CDK9 causes cardiac myocyte enlargement leading to cardiac hypertrophy and predisposition to heart failure.
