Antiserum specifically reacts with a 35 kDa CDK5 (p31) protein from human, rat, and mouse tissue.
No reaction observed against other related cyclin-dependent kinases.
Cross-reactivity with CDK5 (p31) from other species may also occur.
Target Information
CDK5 is a member of the Cyclin-Dependent Kinase family, abundant in the mammalian brain.
The active form, also known as neuronal cdc2-like kinase, is a heterodimer of CDK5 and a 25 kDa protein derived from a 35 kDa neuron-specific precursor.
CDK5 plays a crucial role in neuronal migration during CNS development and phosphorylates diverse substrates, regulating processes such as adhesion, motility, synaptic plasticity, and drug addiction.
