Product Specific Information

This antibody detects a 125 kDa protein corresponding to the apparent molecular mass of DAAM1 on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of human A431, K562, and mouse C2C12 cells.

Target Information

DAAM1 is a diaphanous-related formin first studied as a novel Disheveled binding protein and shown to be crucial for the planar cell polarity pathway in Xenopus. Like other formins, DAAM1 directs nucleation and elongation of new actin filaments via its conserved formin-homology-2 (FH2) domain. It is a Rho-regulated formin implicated in neuronal development and regulation of gastrulation. DAAM1 binds the Wnt receptor-associated protein Disheveled and the GTP-bound form of RhoA, promoting its active state in cells. The protein contains a GTPase-binding domain (GBD), a diaphanous inhibitory domain (DID), a coiled-coil region, FH1, FH2, and a C-terminal diaphanous auto-regulatory domain (DAD). In humans, the DAAM1 gene is located on chromosome 14q23.1.
