Target Information
Cellular retinaldehyde-binding protein (CRALBP)는 rod 시각 색소(opsin, rhodopsin)의 11-cis-retinal 재생 과정에서 중요한 역할을 합니다.
11-cis-retinal이 광이성화되면 all-trans-retinal로 변환되고, 이후 all-trans-retinol로 전환됩니다.
이 물질은 망막 색소 상피(RPE)로 확산되어 다시 11-cis-retinol로 변환 후 11-cis-retinal로 산화됩니다.
CRALBP 결함은 bothnia dystrophy, retinitis punctata albescens, retina pigmentosa, Newfoundland rod-cone dystrophy 등 시각 질환과 연관되어 있습니다.
CRALBP는 RPE 및 망막의 Muller glial cell의 마커로 사용됩니다.
