Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Rat IL-6. Anti-Rat IL-6-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography employing an immobilized Rat IL-6 matrix.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Rat IL-6 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.5–2.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. When used with PeproTech Biotinylated Anti-Rat IL-6 (500-P73Bt) as a detection antibody, it allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Rat IL-6.

Western Blot:
To detect Rat IL-6 by Western Blot analysis, use at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. With compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Rat IL-6 is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

IL-6 encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B-cell maturation. It acts as an endogenous pyrogen, inducing fever in autoimmune or infectious conditions. Expressed mainly at sites of acute and chronic inflammation, IL-6 triggers a transcriptional inflammatory response via interleukin 6 receptor alpha. Elevated IL-6 levels are associated with diabetes mellitus, systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, Kaposi sarcoma, and viral infections such as COVID-19.
