Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Rat IL-6. Anti-Rat IL-6-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Rat IL-6 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Rat IL-6 (500-P73) as a capture antibody, allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Rat IL-6.

Western Blot:
To detect Rat IL-6 by Western Blot analysis, use at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. When used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Rat IL-6 is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

IL-6 encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B cell maturation. The protein acts as an endogenous pyrogen inducing fever in autoimmune or infectious diseases. It is mainly expressed at sites of acute and chronic inflammation, secreted into serum, and triggers transcriptional inflammatory responses through IL-6 receptor alpha. IL-6 function is implicated in various inflammation-associated diseases such as diabetes mellitus and systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Elevated IL-6 levels are observed in viral infections including COVID-19. Diseases associated with IL6 include Kaposi Sarcoma and Rheumatoid Arthritis, Systemic Juvenile.
