Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Rat IL-6. Anti-Rat IL-6-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.
Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Rat IL-6 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Rat IL-6 (500-P73) as a capture antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Rat IL-6.
Western Blot:
To detect Rat IL-6 by Western Blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. When used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Rat IL-6 is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information
IL-6 encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B cell maturation. It acts as an endogenous pyrogen that can induce fever in autoimmune diseases or infections. IL-6 is primarily expressed at sites of acute and chronic inflammation, secreted into serum, and triggers an inflammatory transcriptional response via the interleukin 6 receptor alpha.
This gene is implicated in various inflammation-associated diseases, including susceptibility to diabetes mellitus and systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Elevated IL-6 levels have been found in viral infections such as COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2).
Diseases associated with IL6 include Kaposi Sarcoma and Rheumatoid Arthritis, Systemic Juvenile.
