This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned, and individual clones are screened for optimal production.

This antibody has specificity for human Nicastrin (NCSTN).

Target Information

NCSTN (Nicastrin) encodes a type I transmembrane glycoprotein, a component of the multimeric gamma-secretase complex. This complex cleaves integral membrane proteins such as Notch receptors and beta-amyloid precursor protein (APP).
The cleavage of APP produces amyloid beta peptide, the main component of neuritic plaques in Alzheimer’s disease. While NCSTN is implicated in Alzheimer’s pathology, its precise role remains uncertain. Mutations in NCSTN are also associated with familial acne inversa. A pseudogene is present on chromosome 21.
