Product Specific Information
This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to prevent contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are generated using in vitro expression systems by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select optimal candidates for production.
Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:
- High specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulation
- Broad immunoreactivity due to large rabbit immune repertoire
This antibody is specific for Human IkB alpha/NFKBIA.
Target Information
IkB-alpha is a 40 kDa protein that inhibits NF-kappaB activity through protein-protein interaction in the cytosol. The binding of IkB-alpha to NF-kappaB masks its nuclear localization sequence, preventing nuclear translocation.
Activation of NF-kappaB occurs when IkB-alpha is degraded in response to stimuli such as TNF-alpha, IL-1 beta, chemokines, PMA, growth factors, LPS, UV irradiation, viral infection, and various stresses.
In humans, the IkB-alpha gene is located on chromosome 14q. Phosphorylation of IkB on serine residues 32 and 36 by IkB kinase alpha (IKKα, also known as CHUK) triggers its degradation. IKKα, together with IKKβ and IKKγ, forms the IKK complex essential for NF-kappaB activation. The NF-kappaB inducing kinase (NIK) regulates this process in response to TNF and IL-1.
