Product Specific Information

B88-9 binds to human CD16 at an epitope comprised of LEKDSVTK (aa 21–27), SWKNTALH (aa 113–120), FHHNS (aa 134–138), and VGSKN (aa 158–162).
hCD16 is recognized by B88-9 when both bound and unbound to hIgG1.
B88-9-bound CD16 cannot be bound by hIgG1.


Target Information

CD16 encodes a receptor that recognizes the Fc portion of immunoglobulin G and is involved in immune complex clearance and cellular cytotoxicity.
The gene FCGR3A shares high similarity with FCGR3B, located on chromosome 1.
FCGR3A is expressed on NK cells as a transmembrane glycoprotein, while FCGR3B is expressed on polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN) via a phosphatidylinositol (PI) linkage.

Mutations in FCGR3A are associated with:

  • Immunodeficiency 20
  • Susceptibility to recurrent viral infections
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus
  • Alloimmune neonatal neutropenia

Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
