This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of murine CD3 (epsilon subunit).
It is commonly used as a phenotypic marker for murine T cells.
Target Information
The CD3 subunit complex is crucial for transducing antigen-recognition signals into T cells and regulating TCR complex expression.
CD3 subunits (gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta) are part of the immunoglobulin superfamily and encoded by genes on chromosome 11.
They associate with cytoplasmic signal transduction molecules via tyrosine-based motifs.
CD3 antigens are present on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes and 65–85% of thymocytes, but not on B or NK cells.
Defects in CD3 genes are associated with CD3 immunodeficiency.
