Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD31 (PECAM-1), a 130–140 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on monocytes, platelets, granulocytes, endothelial cells, and stem cells of the myeloid lineage.
Target Information
CD31 (platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1, PECAM-1) is an inhibitory coreceptor involved in regulation of T cell and B cell signaling through dual immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs). Upon phosphorylation by associated kinases, these motifs provide docking sites for protein-tyrosine phosphatases.
CD31 is ubiquitously expressed within the vascular compartment, mainly at junctions between adjacent cells. Its N-terminal Ig-like domain mediates homophilic binding, playing a crucial role in cell-cell interactions.
CD31 functions in modulation of integrin-mediated adhesion, transendothelial migration, angiogenesis, apoptosis, regulation of immunoreceptor signaling, autoimmunity, macrophage phagocytosis, IgE-mediated anaphylaxis, and thrombosis, serving as a key regulatory molecule in the vascular system.
