Product Specific Information

This antibody is predicted to react with monkey, chicken, mouse, and rat based on sequence homology.
Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining, using a 10 mM citrate buffer (pH 6.0) for 10 minutes, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
After antigen retrieval, incubate samples with the primary antibody for 10 minutes at room temperature.
A suggested positive control is brain tissue.

Target Information

Glutamate is the main excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain. Initially, it was known to act only on ligand-gated receptor channels such as NMDA, AMPA, and kainate receptors, which mediate fast excitatory synaptic transmission.
Recent studies show that glutamate also regulates enzymes producing second messengers through metabotropic glutamate receptors coupled to G-proteins.

  • Group I receptors (including mGluR1a and mGluR5) stimulate phospholipase C, increasing phosphoinositide turnover and calcium release.
  • Group II and III receptors (including mGluR2 and mGluR3) inhibit adenylyl cyclase activity.
