Product Specific Information

The MCFA30 monoclonal antibody recognizes human NFκB p65 subunit when serine 529 is phosphorylated.
NFκB (nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells) is a transcription factor regulating genes involved in cell proliferation, apoptosis, development, immunity, and cancer.
Active NFκB forms homo- or heterodimers composed of p65 (RelA), c-Rel, RelB, p50 (NFkB1), and p52 (NFkB2).
Its activity is inhibited by IκB binding, which sequesters NFκB in the cytoplasm. Upon activation by TNF-α, IL-1β, LPS, camptothecin, or PMA, IκB is phosphorylated and degraded, allowing NFκB nuclear translocation and gene regulation.
Phosphorylation of p65 at serine 529 enhances NFκB transcriptional activity.

Target Information

Nuclear factor κB p65 (NFκB p65), encoded by the RELA gene on human chromosome 11, is also known as RelA (v-rel avian reticuloendotheliosis viral oncogene homolog A).
It is a member of the Rel protein family and forms heterodimers with NFκB subunits p50 or p52.
Upon TNF-α receptor activation, IKK phosphorylates IκB, leading to its proteasomal degradation and NFκB activation.
NFκB p65 plays a critical role in transcription of the immunoglobulin κ gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
