EGFR (Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor)는 다양한 성장인자에 반응하는 수용체 티로신 키나아제로, 과발현 시 여러 암종과 관련이 있습니다. 인간 염색체 7에 위치한 EGFR 유전자는 HER/ERbB 단백질 계열에 속하며, ERbB2, ERbB3, ERbB4를 포함합니다. EGF 및 TGF-α와 같은 리간드가 결합하면 EGFR이 이합체화되어 세포질 도메인의 티로신 잔기들이 자가 인산화됩니다. 과발현은 두경부, 뇌, 방광, 위, 유방, 폐, 자궁내막, 자궁경부, 외음부, 난소, 식도, 위 및 편평세포암 등 다양한 종양에서 관찰됩니다.
