Product Specific Information
Recombinant Human TLR-4 is a 69.3 kDa glycoprotein containing 609 amino acid residues of the TLR-4 extracellular domain. Due to glycosylation, it migrates with an apparent molecular mass of approximately 90–100 kDa by SDS-PAGE under reducing and non-reducing conditions.

Target Information
TLR4 is a member of the Toll-like receptor (TLR) family, playing a fundamental role in pathogen recognition and activation of innate immunity. TLRs are conserved from Drosophila to humans and share structural and functional similarities.
TLR4 is most abundantly expressed in the placenta and myelomonocytic leukocyte subpopulations. Mammalian cells respond to LPS via TLR4 activation.
TLR4 forms part of the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) receptor complex with CD14 and LY96, mediating cytokine production for effective immune responses.
Mutations in TLR4 are associated with differences in LPS responsiveness. TLR4 is expressed by peripheral blood monocytes, a small population of B-cells, and human placenta.
Studies with TLR4-deficient mice show that TLR4 is the main receptor for LPS, and deficiency leads to increased susceptibility to Gram-negative sepsis.
