Description:
The eBio341 monoclonal antibody reacts with rat CD8β, a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily that heterodimerizes with CD8α to form the CD8 antigen. It is expressed on CD4⁺CD8⁺ double-positive thymocytes, most MHC class I-restricted peripheral T cells, and some macrophages. CD8β expression depends on thymic T-cell development and associates with kinase Lck during antigen presentation.

Applications Reported:
This antibody is suitable for flow cytometric analysis and functional assays.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of rat splenocytes and thymocytes. Recommended use ≤0.5 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Optimal dilution should be determined experimentally.

Storage and Handling:
Use in a sterile environment. Post-manufacturing filtered through 0.2 µm membrane.

Target Information

The CD8B antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes, facilitating cell-cell interactions within the immune system. Acting as a coreceptor with the T-cell receptor, CD8 recognizes antigens presented by MHC class I molecules on antigen-presenting cells. The CD8 complex can exist as either αα homodimers or αβ heterodimers, both sharing homology with immunoglobulin variable light chains. The CD8B gene encodes the beta chain isoforms and has multiple alternatively spliced variants, with a pseudogene located on chromosome 2.
