Target Information
Alpha Tubulin is part of a heterodimer consisting of alpha and beta tubulin subunits. These tubulins (~55 kDa each) form the basic building blocks of microtubules—cylindrical filamentous structures found in nearly all eukaryotic cells. Microtubules provide structural support, facilitate intracellular transport, and play a key role in mitosis.
Alpha and beta tubulins are highly conserved across species, and the alpha tubulin gene is similar to the mouse and rat Tuba1 gene. Expression is predominantly found in morphologically differentiated neurologic cells.
