Target Information
GTP-binding proteins are GTPases that act as molecular switches, toggling between active (GTP-bound) and inactive (GDP-bound) states. When a ligand binds to a G-protein-linked receptor, the receptor activates trimeric G proteins by promoting GDP-GTP exchange. The active G protein can then transmit intracellular signals until it hydrolyzes GTP back to GDP, thus turning off the signal.
