Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of Androgen Receptor only when phosphorylated at Ser310.

Target Information

The androgen receptor (AR) is a member of the steroid-hormone receptor superfamily of nuclear receptors. It is a ligand-activated transcription factor that binds active testosterone (T) and dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Upon ligand binding, the receptor translocates into the nucleus, dimerizes, and activates transcription of androgen-responsive genes.

AR signaling is crucial for male reproductive organ development (e.g., prostate, epididymis) and also functions in nonreproductive tissues such as muscle, hair follicles, and brain. AR is a phosphoprotein that regulates MAP kinase pathways, and its phosphorylation state correlates with MEK1/2 pathway inhibition. Abnormal AR signaling is associated with diseases such as prostate cancer, Kennedy’s disease, and male infertility. Mutations in the AR gene can cause complete androgen insensitivity syndrome (CAIS).
