Product Specific Information

  • Antibody is stable for 24 months.
  • Positive Control: Ubiquitously expressed, with highest levels in lung, kidney, heart, gastrointestinal system, and prostate.
  • Cellular Localization: Cell surface
  • Specificity Comments: This gene encodes an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of angiotensin I into angiotensin II, a potent vasopressor and aldosterone-stimulating peptide controlling blood pressure and fluid-electrolyte balance. It plays a key role in the renin-angiotensin system. Studies have linked a 287 bp Alu repeat element in this gene to circulating enzyme levels and cardiovascular pathophysiologies. Two major alternatively spliced variants encode somatic and testicular isozymes, both active. Additional splice variants exist but their full-length nature remains undetermined.

Target Information

This gene encodes an enzyme involved in catalyzing the conversion of angiotensin I into angiotensin II, a physiologically active peptide that regulates blood pressure and fluid-electrolyte balance. It is a key component of the renin-angiotensin system. Variations in this gene, including a 287 bp Alu repeat element, are associated with enzyme levels and cardiovascular conditions. Two major alternatively spliced variants encode equally active somatic and testicular forms, with additional variants identified but not fully characterized.
