The monoclonal antibody 7F9 (VIIF9) recognizes human, mouse, rat, and avian vinculin and its alternatively spliced isoform, metavinculin. Vinculin is a cytoskeletal protein associated with cell-cell and cell-matrix junctions. It is involved in anchoring F-actin to the membrane and regulating E-cadherin expression. Vinculin binds to talin, paxillin, and alpha-actinin. Dysregulation of vinculin alters cell adhesion, migration, and growth, promoting cancer invasion and metastasis.
Applications Reported:
This 7F9 antibody has been reported for use in microscopy, immunocytochemistry, and immunohistochemical staining of frozen and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
Applications Tested:
Tested by immunocytochemistry on formaldehyde-fixed and permeabilized cells; usable at ≤10 µg/mL. Antibody titration recommended for optimal performance.

Target Information
Vinculin (VCL) is a cytoskeletal protein associated with cell-cell and cell-extracellular matrix adherens-type junctions. It anchors F-actin to the membrane through interactions with talin, paxillin, and alpha-actinin. Vinculin plays a key role in the assembly of adhesion plaques and the linkage between the extracellular matrix and cytoplasmic microfilaments. Mutations in the VCL gene are associated with cardiomyopathy dilated 1W or familial hypertrophic 15.
