Target Information
LIPG (Lipase G, Endothelial type) is an endothelial lipase that belongs to the lipoprotein lipase gene family. It is synthesized by endothelial cells and functions locally to modulate lipoprotein metabolism. Overexpression of LIPG reduces HDL cholesterol levels, while deficiency elevates HDL levels in animal models. LIPG exhibits phospholipase activity, contributing to lipoprotein metabolism and vascular biology. It is a carboxyl esterase that hydrolyzes high-density lipoproteins, emulsifies triglycerides, and plays a role in dietary fat digestion and heparin binding.
