Product Specific Information

PA1-9526 detects Fibrinogen in human samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot and ELISA procedures.
By Western blot, PA1-9526 detects a ~94 kDa protein representing Fibrinogen.
The immunogen is a mixture of synthetic peptides based on human fibrinogen.

Target Information

Fibrinogen is the precursor of fibrin, the coagulable protein in vertebrate plasma.
Following vascular injury, fibrinogen is cleaved by thrombin to form fibrin, the major component of blood clots.
Fibrinogen consists of a dimer of three pairs of non-identical chains (FGA, FGB, FGG) cross-linked by disulfide bonds in their N-terminal regions.
The molecule has two terminal D domains and one central E domain, which are separated when degraded by plasmin.
Mutations in this gene can lead to disorders such as dysfibrinogenemia, afibrinogenemia, and renal amyloidosis.
