PA1-9525 detects Transferrin in human samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot and ELISA procedures.
By Western blot, PA1-9525 detects a ~75 kDa protein representing Transferrin.
The immunogen is a mix of synthetic peptides corresponding to residues 30–41, 292–303, and 422–431 of human transferrin.

Target Information

Transferrins (Tf) are approximately 80 kDa blood plasma glycoproteins synthesized by the liver.
They are iron-binding transport proteins capable of binding two Fe(3+) ions along with an anion, usually bicarbonate.
Transferrin transports iron from absorption and degradation sites to storage and utilization sites.
It serves as the primary blood iron transport protein; about one-third of total transferrin normally contains bound iron.
Measurement of blood transferrin levels can indicate iron-carrying capacity and abnormalities such as anemia, iron overload, and haemochromatosis.
Serum transferrin may also stimulate cell proliferation.
