Target Information
HLA-DRA is one of the HLA class II alpha chain paralogues. It forms a heterodimer with a beta chain, both membrane-anchored, and plays a key role in antigen presentation of extracellular peptides to the immune system.
Class II molecules are expressed in antigen-presenting cells (APCs) such as B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, and macrophages.
The alpha chain (~33–35 kDa) gene contains 5 exons: exon 1 encodes the leader peptide, exons 2–3 encode extracellular domains, and exon 4 encodes the transmembrane domain and cytoplasmic tail.
DRA lacks polymorphisms in the peptide-binding region and serves as the sole alpha chain for DRB1, DRB3, DRB4, and DRB5.
HLA and MHC antibodies are essential tools in immunopeptidomics, aiding in identification and characterization of neoantigens via high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry.
