Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of Cyclin E1 only when phosphorylated at Threonine 395.
Target Information
Cyclin E belongs to the highly conserved cyclin family, characterized by periodic changes in protein abundance through the cell cycle. Cyclins regulate CDK kinases and exhibit distinct expression and degradation patterns, contributing to the temporal coordination of mitotic events.
Cyclin E forms a complex with CDK2, functioning as a regulatory subunit required for the G1/S transition. The protein accumulates at the G1-S phase boundary and is degraded as cells progress through S phase. Overexpression of Cyclin E has been observed in many tumors, contributing to chromosome instability and tumorigenesis.
Cyclin E also associates with NPAT, a nuclear protein involved in histone gene expression and cell-cycle progression. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described, with additional splice variants reported but not fully characterized.
