Target Information
CD26 (dipeptidyl peptidase IV, DPP IV; adenosine deaminase binding protein) is a homodimeric atypical serine protease belonging to the prolyl oligopeptidase family.
It is expressed on lymphocytes and upregulated during T-cell activation, also found on activated B cells, natural killer cells, and epithelial tissues.
CD26 participates in:
- T-cell activation and adhesion to extracellular matrix (e.g., fibronectin, collagens)
- HIV infection processes
- Regulation of enzymatic activity linked to malignant transformation and tumor progression
Altered CD26 expression or activity is associated with autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
