Target Information

CD25 (IL2 receptor alpha chain / IL2RA) is a cytokine receptor involved in the proliferation of T and B lymphocytes. The IL2 receptor is a heterotrimeric complex composed of IL2RA, IL2RB, and IL2RG chains, forming a high-affinity receptor.
IL2RA homodimers yield low-affinity receptors, while IL2RB homodimers produce medium-affinity receptors. IL2 expression in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, contributing to precise gene regulation.
IL2 is mainly produced by mature T cells and functions as a growth and differentiation factor, as well as a regulator of cell death. It stimulates B cell proliferation, enhances NK cell activity, and inhibits granulocyte macrophage colony formation.
Disruption of the IL2RA gene in mice leads to ulcerative colitis-like disease, indicating its role in immune response regulation.
Mutations in this gene are associated with interleukin 2 receptor alpha deficiency.
