Target Information
CD22 (BL-CAM) is a type 1 integral membrane glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 130–140 kDa. It is expressed in both the cytoplasm and cell membrane of B-lymphocytes.
CD22 appears early in B-cell differentiation, similar to CD19, and is mainly expressed in mature B cells and certain leukemias such as hairy cell leukemia.
It binds preferentially to α2,6-linked sialic acid and plays a regulatory role in B-cell receptor signaling via tyrosine phosphorylation.
CD22 expression is observed in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and nodular lymphocyte predominance Hodgkin’s lymphoma but is negative in classical Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
