Target Information
Immunoglobulin classes share a basic structure of two heavy chains and two light chains (kappa and lambda). The kappa and lambda light chains, each about 22.5 kDa, contain variable and constant regions that differ antigenically. The normal kappa to lambda ratio is approximately 70:30. Antibodies to the kappa light chain are useful in identifying leukemias, plasmacytomas, and some non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. Demonstration of clonality in lymphoid infiltrates indicates malignancy.
