Target Information
Immunoglobulin classes share the same basic structure consisting of two heavy chains and two light chains (kappa and lambda, each ~22.5 kDa). Kappa and lambda chains differ by the antigenic properties of their constant regions, with a typical kappa to lambda ratio of 70:30.
Antibodies to the kappa light chain are useful for identifying leukemias, plasmacytomas, and certain non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. Demonstration of clonality in lymphoid infiltrates indicates malignancy.
