Target Information
Immunoglobulin classes share a basic structure of two heavy chains and two light chains (kappa and lambda, each ~22.5 kDa). Kappa and lambda chains have variable and constant regions, distinguishable by antigenic properties. The kappa/lambda ratio is typically 70:30. Antibodies to kappa light chains are useful for identifying leukemias, plasmacytomas, and certain non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. Demonstration of clonality in lymphoid infiltrates indicates malignancy.
