Target Information
CD25 (IL2 receptor alpha chain/IL2RA) is a cytokine receptor involved in the proliferation of T and B lymphocytes. The IL2 receptor is a heterotrimeric complex composed of IL2RA, IL2RB, and IL2RG chains. Homodimeric IL2RA forms a low-affinity receptor, while IL2RB homodimers form medium-affinity receptors. IL2 expression in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, regulating precise gene expression. IL2 is produced mainly by mature T cells and functions as a growth, differentiation, and apoptosis regulator. It stimulates B cell proliferation, enhances NK cell activity, and inhibits granulocyte macrophage colony formation. Mutations in IL2RA are associated with interleukin 2 receptor alpha deficiency and immune response disorders.
