Product Specific Information

The IM7 monoclonal antibody reacts with all isoforms of mouse CD44 (Pgp-1). CD44 is expressed by hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells. Bone marrow myeloid cells and memory T cells highly express this antigen, and peripheral B and T cells can upregulate CD44 expression. CD44 functions as an adhesion molecule through binding to hyaluronate, an extracellular matrix component.

Applications Reported: This IM7 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes. Use ≤1 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number may range from 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Optimize titration for best performance.

Target Information

CD44 is a 100 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on human leukocytes, white matter of the brain, and some epithelial cells. It serves as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and mediates cell-cell interactions, adhesion, and migration. CD44 participates in lymphocyte activation, recirculation, and homing, and can be upregulated in certain carcinomas, potentially linked to metastasis.

CD44 expression occurs in hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells, epithelial tissues, and filopodia of cultured keratinocytes. Bone marrow myeloid cells and memory T cells express high levels of CD44; peripheral B and T cells can upregulate expression upon stimulation. Alternative splicing generates multiple isoforms with distinct functions.

Associated diseases: Superficial keratitis, lichen sclerosus, and possibly tumor metastasis formation.
