Target Information
Cell-mediated immune responses are initiated by T lymphocytes stimulated by peptides bound to MHC molecules on antigen-presenting cells (APC). Activated T cells express inhibitory receptors such as PD-1 (PDCD-1), which bind ligands PDL-1 and PDL-2 to regulate immune activation. PD-1 signaling inhibits immune responses in the absence of danger signals like LPS. PD-1 knockout mice show hyperactivated immune systems and autoimmune phenotypes. Despite its predicted molecular weight, PD-1 often migrates at higher apparent molecular weight in SDS-PAGE.
