Target Information
PDGFRB (Platelet-derived growth factor receptor beta) is a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in atherogenesis and cellular transformation mediated by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for mesenchymal-origin cells.
The ligand binding determines receptor dimerization as either homodimer or heterodimer (with PDGFRA).
The PDGFRB gene, located on chromosome 5, is adjacent to genes for granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor and macrophage colony-stimulating factor receptor, all associated with the 5-q syndrome.
A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB (CD140b) with ETV6 leads to chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
