Product Specific Information

• For IHC (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
• For formalin-fixed tissues: Heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

IL-1 alpha (Interleukin-1 alpha) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
It is encoded by the IL1A gene and signals through IL-1RI and IL-1RII, which are shared with IL-1 beta.
Located on chromosome 2q13, IL-1 alpha triggers production of other proinflammatory cytokines and initiates acute-phase responses.
Its activity is regulated by IL-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1RA), which blocks receptor binding.
IL-1 alpha influences NF-kappaB and MAPK pathways, stimulates IL6 and COX-2 expression, and enhances nitric oxide production.
Elevated IL-1 alpha levels are associated with chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis.
