Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. Purity is >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
WASP (Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein) and N-WASP are downstream effectors of Cdc42 involved in actin polymerization and cytoskeletal organization. The WASP family also includes VASP and Mena, which localize to focal adhesions and regulate actin cytoskeleton dynamics.
WAVE proteins, including WAVE1 and WAVE2, function similarly, mediating actin reorganization downstream of Rho family GTPases. WAVE1 and WAVE2 regulate membrane ruffling by inducing actin filament cluster formation in response to Rac activation.
These proteins cooperate with the Arp2/3 complex to promote actin filament formation. WAVE1 (also known as SCAR) is primarily expressed in the brain, while WAVE2 is broadly expressed, with high levels in peripheral blood leukocytes. WAVE3 forms a multiprotein complex linking receptor kinases and actin via a C-terminal verprolin homology domain. This complex transduces signals that modulate cell shape, motility, and function.
