Product Specific Information

This antibody reacts with extracellular class III epitope on CD34, a 110–115 kDa monomeric transmembrane phosphoglycoprotein expressed on hematopoietic progenitor cells and pluripotential stem cells. Expression is gradually lost on differentiating progenitor cells. The clone 4H11[APG] completely blocks binding of class III antibodies BIRMA K3 and 8G12 on KG1a cell line.

Target Information

CD34 is a highly glycosylated monomeric surface protein (111–115 kDa) expressed on various stem cell populations. It serves as a marker for hematopoietic stem cells and may function as a receptor regulating adhesion, differentiation, and proliferation. CD34 expression represents a specific developmental state with distinct adhesion properties. It may mediate stem cell attachment to bone marrow extracellular matrix or stromal cells, act as a scaffold for glycans, and present carbohydrate ligands to selectins. The intracellular domain is phosphorylated by protein kinase C, suggesting a role in signal transduction.
Diseases associated with CD34 dysfunction include dermatofibrosarcoma and neurofibroma.
