Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The family of voltage-dependent chloride channels (CLCs) regulates cellular trafficking of chloride ions, which are critical for all living cells. CLCs influence excitability in muscle and nerve cells, aid in organic solute transport, and maintain cellular volume.
Human CLC-1 through CLC-7 genes map to chromosomes 7, 3q26, 4q32, Xp22, Xp11, 1p36, and 16p13, respectively.
- CLC-1: Highly expressed in skeletal muscle; mutations cause myotonia (muscle stiffness and renal salt wasting).
- CLC-2: Expressed in epithelial tissues such as lung; potential therapeutic target for cystic fibrosis.
- CLC-3: Abundant in neuronal tissue.
- CLC-4: Found in skeletal and cardiac muscle as well as brain.
