Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Tight junctions are a type of cell-to-cell adhesion found in epithelial and endothelial sheets, forming continuous seals around cells and serving as a barrier to prevent solutes and water from passing freely through the paracellular space. These junctions consist of continuous networking strands in the cytoplasmic leaflet with complementary grooves in the extracytoplasmic leaflet.
The Claudin 6 protein, encoded by this gene, is an integral membrane component of tight junction strands and functions as an entry cofactor for hepatitis C virus. Gene methylation may be associated with esophageal tumorigenesis. The CLDN6 gene is located adjacent to CLDN9 on chromosome 16.
