Target Information
ALAS1 is a nuclear-encoded mitochondrial matrix enzyme catalyzing the condensation of glycine with succinyl-CoA to form δ-aminolevulinate, CO₂, and CoA. It regulates the first and rate-limiting step of the heme biosynthetic pathway.
