Target Information
Histones are basic nuclear proteins forming the nucleosome structure of chromosomal fibers in eukaryotes. The core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4) form an octamer around which approximately 146 bp of DNA is wrapped.
Linker histone H1 interacts with linker DNA between nucleosomes, contributing to chromatin compaction.
This gene, part of the histone H1 family, is intronless and located within the large histone gene cluster on chromosome 6. Transcripts lack polyA tails but contain a palindromic termination element.
