Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with HIV-1 subtypes B and C, BRU, IIIB, and HAN strains.
It has been mapped to amino acids 35–50 (RDLEKHGAITSSNTAA - HXB2).
This clone may also be referred to as 3D12 (01-002).
Target Information
HIV-1 Nef is one of the accessory proteins synthesized in the early stage of AIDS virus reproduction and is abundantly found in infected cells. Initially thought to be a “negative factor,” Nef is now recognized as a key protein with distinctive biological characteristics of the AIDS virus.
It interacts directly with host T-cell signal transduction proteins, influencing viral infection, survival of infected cells, and inducing apoptosis in uninfected cells.
Nef also mediates endocytosis and degradation of cell surface receptor proteins such as CD4 and MHC, which are important for HIV infection.
