Product Specific Information

The OKT4 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59 kDa cell surface glycoprotein expressed by the majority of thymocytes, a subpopulation of mature T cells (T-helper cells), and at low levels on monocytes. CD4 is a receptor for the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
OKT4 antibody recognizes a different epitope than RPA-T4, and these antibodies do not cross-block binding to each other's epitopes.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended ≤ 0.25 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Antibody should be titrated for optimal performance.

Fluorophore Information:
Alexa Fluor® 700 emits at 723 nm and can be excited with the red laser (633 nm). Recommended filter: 685 LP mirror and 710/20 filter.

Target Information

CD4 antigen is involved in recognition of MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV.
Primarily expressed in T-helper lymphocytes, but also found in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
Detected in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and various non-lymphoid tissues such as brain and gut.
CD4 functions in T-cell activation through association with the T-cell receptor complex and Lck kinase, and may mediate neuronal damage in immune-related diseases.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
